Buffalo Bills (7-3) at Houston Texans (5-5)
Neither of these two teams has won as consistently as many expected them to. In fact, the Texans immediately fell into an 0-3 hole that they just finally dug themselves out of last week. That's right. They only got back to even at 5-5 with the win over the Titans in Tennessee last weekend. However, their challenge will be considerably tougher this week, as the Bills come into town. Of course, the Bills have also not won as consistently as many feel they should have done, with losses to the Patriots, Falcons, and Dolphins. Still, a record of 7-3 is not bad at all. They are not in first place in the AFC East, but they are still very much in the running. Also, they look like a team likely headed to the postseason, and still a serious contender for the AFC East title and one of the top seeds, if not possibly even the top seed. However, they simply cannot afford to lose any more ground to the red-hot New England Patriots in the AFC East race. Likewise, the Texans cannot afford to lose more ground to the Colts if they want any chance of catching them, or even the second place Jaguars. Really, the Texans have very little wiggle room if they even want to qualify for the playoffs. So this is a big game with some serious playoff ramifications on both sides. This one could go either way, as the Texans should be tough at home in Houston. It really could go either way. Either team could pull it off, and it really would not be a surprise. But for my prediction, I will give the narrow edge to the home team.
My pick: Houston
