Trump Hints at Executing Members of Congress in Latest Online Rant

This is a picture of a magnet that was being sold at Strand's Book Store in New York City a few years ago. No, I did not buy it, but I liked it and took a picture, which I am sharing here now. 

President Donald Trump once again went on one of his infamous, tiresome tantrums yesterday.

Yet this one stands apart, because Trump threatened death to members of Congress.

I wish that this was a joke, but it's not. This actually happened.

What set Trump off was when those Congressional members advised members of the military and intelligence officers to "refuse illegal orders."

That bears repeating: they urged the military and intelligence community to "refuse illegal orders."

Did you catch that? 

Illegal orders. 

Here was the first of his Truth Social posts, where he went on this particularly violent rant:

“It’s called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL. Their words cannot be allowed to stand — We won’t have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET,” the president wrote in one Truth Social post Thursday morning, linking to an article about the video from the Washington Examiner.

Later, he not only doubled down, but actually increased the threat level severely:

In a third, he wrote: "SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!"

Fellow Republicans and FOX News expressed outrage that Democratic members of Congress would encourage the military and intelligence community to defy these illegal orders. They seemed to brush off the seriousness of Trump's threats of executing members of Congress. 

This guy is completely unhinged. Are we as a country not tired of all of this yet? Having a transparently power-hungry president with obvious dictatorial ambitions who goes on these ridiculously unhinged and immature rants and is now threatening some members of the opposition with execution? No president in history has ever shown such immature and unhinged behavior before. And no president in history has ever outright threatened opposition members with possible execution.

And again, it was because they urged the military and intelligence community not to follow "illegal orders."

None of this is normal. I'm so disgusted with the complicity of FOX News and other actual fake news agencies supportive of this ridiculous excuse for a presidential administration, as well as MAGA Republicans, always finding excuses for this pathetic human being's horrific behavior. There is no excuse for this. We are reaching a point where it is no longer remotely mysterious whether or not this kind of talk is acceptable or not. Threatening members of the opposition with possible execution goes beyond barely crossing lines. 

I am soooooo sick and tired of people allowing Donald Trump to be the exception to everything. Apparently he should be able to get away with horrific behavior that literally no one else gets away with. From racist behavior to sexist actions to fascist leanings to obvious and relentless lies beyond counting to blatant corruption to illegal killings to apparently getting away with a cover-up regarding the Epstein Files, and possibly hiding extremely illegal and immoral conduct regarding his involvement with Epstein.

Clearly, this man is above the law. After all, he keeps getting away with this criminal conduct, with these transparent abuses of power. He is literally never held accountable for anything, all because of the MAGA morons, and their elected representatives, bending over backwards to be apologists for everything that this man does. Every abuse of power.

Somehow, we're simply supposed to accept that all of that is okay? "That's Donald Trump being Donald Trump," right?

The more this country appeases this small and pathetically needy man to get away with things like this, the more we allow him to get away with all of this without holding him accountable, the smaller we become as a country. The worse we look to the world, and to history. The more we fail what once was a functioning and idealistic democracy. Whatever it's failings, this country used to have real standards. Trump has eroded all of that so badly that this country has become simply unrecognizable. Personally, I am convinced that literally nobody else could have gotten away with what Trump has gotten away with.

Screw that. Get rid of this guy. He has absolutely no business being anywhere near a position of power like he is. 

If you love this country half as much as you claim to, then freaking hold him accountable for once. At some point, let him know more than anyone else that some lines he cannot be allowed to cross. The next step, it seems to me, would be that he actually goes ahead and officially executes members of Congress. And even then, you better believe that many MAGA cult members - including high-ranking government officials - will back him every step of the way.

This is dangerous, especially if he is allowed yet again to get away with this kind of conduct.

Under more normal times, or in a more normal country, this alone would be grounds for removing such a "leader" from a position of power.

Of course, someone like Trump would never obtain power in the first place under more normal times, or in a more normal country. 

What unbelievable times we live in. What a disgrace this president is.
