PSG won again at the French Cup to move on to the round of 16, although they hardly won handily. They defeated Lorient, the leaders of the second division.

In fact, it took PSG’s Pablo Sarabia scoring in the 80th minute to break a scoreless tie to assure that heavily favored PSG would indeed win.

Up to that point, it was not looking particularly good. But Lorient played what was described by one Jerome Pugmire, a sports writer for the Miami Herald, as scrappy. They held back on defense, rarely coming forward, prompting  PSG coach Thomas Tuchel to complain about that fact after the game.

Lorient did start to play a bit more aggressively after that, looking for the tying goal, but they were unable to get it, and PSG iced the victory, even if some were disappointed that they did not get to shine brighter.

Still, a win is a win, and PSG remained patient, played tough defense, and finally took advantage of an opening when it finally came, albeit surprisingly late.
