Rightwing Extremist Plot to Overthrow Government in Germany Stopped By Police Crackdown

Sometimes, when you hear about things that happen here in the United States which seem to be inching us closer to fascism, they remind you of things in the past, in other countries. This is particularly true of Germany. After the failed January 6th riot (or what I really feel was an actual coup attempt), it feels almost as if those who were participating in it took some lessons from German history.

In a case of role reversal, it seems that a major plot to try and overthrow the German government was in the works from extremists there who seem to have taken their queue from the goings on in the current American political situation.

Sure enough, extremists in Germany were going to attempt to take over the government, which feels like it was inspired by what happened on this side of the Atlantic. As if to reinforce this notion, those who were plotting this took some of their motivation from a QAnon conspiracy theory. So far, at least 25 people have been detained, but I heard on the radio this morning that the number is growing. In fact, it is spreading to other countries, as the investigation of people involved apparently spread to Austria and Italy.

Unreal.
