I have been staying true to my pledge not to either watch any World Cup games, nor to cover any of them here. This is because I personally do not feel that Qatar deserves to host the World Cup, given it's frankly atrocious human rights record.
Yet, this is related news, although it has nothing to do with Qatar - Brazilian football great Pelé is in serious condition. He is battling health, and there was a very scary point where it looked like he might not recover, as I understand it.
As of now, he is doing better. However, he still has to remain in the hospital, and there are still obviously some health concerns.
