Despite Sanctions, Russia May Have Doubled Fossil Fuel Revenues Since Invasion of Ukraine

    





According to a rather astonishing recent Guardian article, Russia has apparently doubled revenues from fossil fuels since the launch of the invasion of Ukraine over two months ago now.

Now if this is true, we no longer need to puzzle over why Russia did it, or why they continue their invasion, despite the clear military setbacks that they have suffered. It would be clear as daylight why they would be there, and continue to fight, despite near universal condemnation around the world, as well as sanctions that we keep hearing from major media sources in the West which are supposed to be paralyzing. Again, if this article is true, then the impact of these allegedly harsh and sweeping sanctions - the likes of which have never been seen before, according to some sources - have not really been all that effective. Certainly, they would hardly serve as a serious deterrent for a determined Russia which will continue to reap strong revenues from Ukraine.
