Saw this rather odd-looking plant yesterday during my walk at the Delaware-Raritan Canal, and it just seemed unusual. Guessing it's specific to the late summer or approaching autumn season, although I am hardly the expert on such matters.
Nevertheless, I took a picture. It seemed worth sharing here.
