Well, I guess this is sort of a good news/bad news kind of a thing here.
The good news?
Americans are finally seeing Donald Trump for who he always has been. They are finally coming to their senses and realizing that this man had no business in the Oval Office. Hell, he should by rights not even have been trusted to go on a tour of the White House with middle school kids on a field trip, let alone been given the power of the presidency. Apparently, his approval ratings stand at 33%. Almost double that amount disapprove of the job that Trump has been doing in this second term.
The bad news?
Well, there are a few things. The first is that Trump has "earned" that historically low approval rating. Meaning that he has done serious damage to the country. There is a reason why Trump's approval ratings have just dropped like a rock almost since he was sworn in for a second time.
Here's another bit of bad news, too: his approval ratings do not matter. He clearly does not seem to care enough about approval ratings to actually do positive things for the country. Regardless of the low numbers, he will continue to do what he had been doing now for many years. The lack of support might bother him, but not enough to change his course. And how much are approval ratings worth after you have given someone like Trump the reins of power again, anyway?
Yet more bad news: the rest of the world is watching. Whether or not you believe it, we need the rest of the world. Yes, we need friends. Cannot go it alone for the rest of our days as a country. And this will simply not be forgotten. The rest of the world will identify the United States with Donald Trump for decades to come, long after he is gone. That means that we are going to be paying a steep price for this collective national hubris that brought such a clown into power in our highest office in the first place.
So yeah, Trump's approval numbers are in the toilet. But they have been for some time. Yet, he keeps going and going and going, tearing the country apart with his hateful rhetoric and selling off what he is making available to be sold, in order that he and his wealthy and powerful friends will grow still far wealthier.
What a world we live in.
