Once Lock & Step With President, Republicans Now Often View Trump as a 'Delusional Fool'

 

This is a picture of a magnet that was being sold at Strand's Book Store in New York City a few years ago. No, I did not buy it, but I liked it and took a picture, which I am sharing here now. 

Having mentioned how it seems like the headlines keep screaming about how Trump's approval ratings are tanking, I also should mention that it always felt to me like that is too little, too late. After all, the man was elected to serve a second term. The damage is being done. And since he and his party now have access to the levers of power, it is not a foregone conclusion that they will be deservedly removed from power, even if their approval numbers are in the tank.

That said, maybe there is one significant advantage. Apparently, Trump's approval ratings are so low that he is increasingly regarded as toxic. Not to MAGA nation, of course. They are loyal as ever, despite all the nonsense.

However, more moderate Republicans are starting to come around and apparently starting to feel emboldened to stand up to him. To say no, and to begin to question the wisdom of simply entirely handing over the reins of one of the two major political parties in this country to such an egotistical and limited moron. Especially one who knows no limits, and never seems to have gotten a clue on how to actually make a majority of Americans feel like he actually cares enough about them to serve their best interests even a little. 

In any normal country, he would never have gotten close to power. But with our ridiculous electoral system, and our unhealthy obsession with celebrity culture, this jackass rose to the top of our political food chain despite a complete absence of political experience or qualifications.

Kind of brings new meaning to the phrase, "Only in America."

Anyway, maybe Trump's iron grip on Republicans even might have been compromised by his own idiocy. There are signs, although time will tell.

Really, it makes you wonder how they are only catching on to him being a "delusion fool" now, after more than a decade of him dominating American politics. What were they seeing, what were they watching and listening to, while the rest of the world caught on very quickly to who Donald Trump always has been? It's not like he was keeping it a secret, or hard to figure out. He always has been a malignant narcissist, and his self-interest always trumps every other consideration. What part of that did they not understand up until now?

Pathetic. Criminal, actually. And I'm not being figurative with that description.
