CFL Update for September 26, 2022

Alright, well I fell behind again regarding covering the Canadian Football League (CFL). I was on vacation for a good week and a half, and then did not immediately get back on the ball once I got back.

Montreal 23, Hamilton 16 - Montreal has been on a bit of a hot streak lately. This was their second win in a row, and more generally, they have been winning more than they have lost for the last month and change or so. The Alouettes earned another important win here in this one, beating the Tiger-Cats and putting some cushion between them and Hamilton in the East, as they now are two games ahead for second place. In addition, the Alouettes at least keep pace with Toronto, with a chance of possibly closing in for the East Division. Let's see what happens, but this was a good, solid win for the Alouettes.

Toronto 45, Ottawa 15 - The Argos needed a win, and man, they left no doubt! Ottawa has been quite weak all season, but they looked ridiculously inept here. Despite having home field advantage, the Redblacks just could not get anything going, either on offense or defense. The result is a blowout loss for them, and a huge win for the Argonauts which keeps them solidly atop the East Division standings, as they continue their march towards the playoffs.

Calgary 25, British Columbia 11 - The Stampeders won, yet both teams secured playoff berths after this game. Calgary's defense just put on a clinic on  the road in Vancouver, and they were the force that allowed this huge win for the team. It allows the Stampeders to close to within half a game of the Lions for second place in the West Division.
