The Princess Bride Premiered On This Day 35 Years Ago

Another anniversary that I missed, although I am doing my best to remedy that.

Saturday, September 17th, marked the 35th anniversary of the premiere of The Princess Bride at the Toronto International Film Festival in 1987.

Inconceivable!

It did not actually do very well at the box office. In fact, it could have been considered a failure by most accepted standards, if it had ended there.

Except, of course, it didn't. The movie really is very good, both funny and charming. It was well-made, told a great and entertaining story and is fun for all ages. Truly one of those movies that the entire family can watch and enjoy. And talk about some great names associated with the film! Some of the names involved in this particular movie project are rather staggering! Rob Reiner as the Director, Mark Knopfler with the music. Then some of the actors: Fred Savage, Peter Falk, Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Mandy Patinkin, Wallace Shawn, Billy Crystal, and of course, my favorite, André the Giant.

What an incredible movie!
