Iga Świątek Adds US Open Title to Trophy Collection and Strengthens Her No. 1 Ranking, While Alcaraz & Ruud Prepare For Big Men's Final Showdown

Wow, what a match set in the US OPen for later today! For the first time ever, the two players involved have a very realistic chance at the world number one ranking, because whoever wins will emerge with the top ranking in the world. Plus, whoever wins will have earned their first ever Grand Slam title. So it could not be bigger.

As for who wins, I am picking the young Spaniard, Carlos Alvaraz, to get past Norwegian Casper Ruud, probably in four sets.

On the women's side, world number one Iga Świątek defeated Ons Jabeur in yesterday's US Open Women's final, 6–2, 7–6 (7–5). It looked like she was going to cruise to victory early, but Jabur created some drama and suspense in that last set, forcing Świątek to really fight for it in the tiebreak.

Still, Świątek earned the win, for her third ever Grand Slam title, but her second of the year, further solidifying her number one ranking. This was also the first Grand Slam title that she won outside of Roland-Garros.
