A world without John Lennon's iconic song, "Imagine." It actually was co-written by Yoko Ono, as well, although she traditionally does not get much credit for it.
That is difficult to imagine, and it's not something that I want to think about, really. To me, it's a beautiful song, truly a masterpiece. Usually, it is not on the top ten list for greatest songs in the history of rock 'n roll, but it should be. Easily, even.
In fact, I think it might have a shot at number one. It's just so beautiful, particularly in feel. The music compliments the lyrics perfectly. Also, it is perfectly suited for the listener to indeed "Imagine" the possibilities of a better world which, sometimes, seems within reach, or at least within the realm of possibility....someday.
Anyway, it has been one of my favorite songs for as long as I can remember. Indeed, when still very young, I must heard my father playing it at some point or other, or at least heard it being played on the radio. It was released in October of 1971, on the album of the same name, and is generally considered Lennon's finest and most successful track of his solo career.
Imagine… A World Without John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ by Jamie Atkins, October 9, 2023:
