NFL 2023-24 Week 8 Thursday Night Football Preview - Tampa Bay at Buffalo

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-3) at Buffalo Bills (4-3)

That loss that the Bills suffered at the hands of the Patriots last weekend made me feel like there is some unfortunate continuity with this Bills team and other Bills teams in recent years. In other words, this is a team absolutely loaded with talent, a team that should rank among the very elites in the AFC. Yet, they are also a team that seems to have some invisible obstacle that prevents them from elevating their game to the next level, and thus will suffer another playoff heartbreak again. I wish it were otherwise, and hope that I am wrong. But they keep losing games like that, as they did against Jacksonville and New England, which likely will prevent them from having home field advantage throughout the playoffs. I like the Bills chances against almost anyone in January playing in Orchard Park. But if they have to go on the road to Jacksonville or Miami or Baltimore, let alone Kansas City....well, that's another story. It's disappointing. Again, I really hope that I am wrong. Right now, there is no team that I'd rather see go to the Super Bowl and finally hoist the Vince Lombari Trophy at the end of the game. That said, they still really are a solid team, and Buffalo really is not a particularly welcoming place for visiting teams. The weather is not supposed to be cold tomorrow. In fact, it looks unseasonably warm for this time of year, although there may be rain. Still, I suspect that the Bills takes care of business in this one, and earn themselves a much-needed win which, hopefully, will restore some of their confidence and even swagger.

My pick: Buffalo
