Sad news in sports. Yesterday, the news broke that the great Hall of Fame linebacker Dick Butkus died.
Butkus was one of the most legendary players in the history not only of the Bears franchise, but indeed the league. He is widely considered to have been one of the most intimidating players ever to take the field. Ironically, he never won a championship with or for the Bears.
Butkus was forced to retire from football in 1973, after suffering a knee injury. However, he then enjoyed a successful career in the broadcast booth.
RIP, Dick Butkus.
