NFL 2023 Week 5: Thursday Night Football Preview: Chicago Ends Historic Losing Streak, Beats Washington

🏈🏈🏈🏈

Chicago Bears 40, Washington Commanders 20

There was a moment of silence prior to the game to honor the memory of Dick Butkus, who died yesterday in his California home.

Apparently, the Bears seemed fired up to honor his memory the right way. Chicago jumped all over the Commanders in the first half, taking a commanding 27-3 lead into the lockers by halftime.

They then hung on in the second half, even while Washington tried to rally and make a game of it. They were able to get within 10 points in the final quarter, before the Bears finally managed to score a touchdown in the final minutes to effectively ice the game.

Chicago quarterback Justin Fields had an incredible night, completing 15 of 29 passes for 282 yards and a whopping four touchdown passes. He was instrumental in helping the Bears snap their 14-game losing streak, which was the longest in the over 100 years of this franchise's history.

What a win!

My pick: Inaccurate
