The Long & Complicated History of New York Marijuana Reform

Clearly, there was disappointing news in New Jersey recently for those who advocate legalizing marijuana. Once again, the vote was delayed, and even though there is still plenty of talk about legalization "some day" or at some point in the future, it seems to remain far off and clouded in the haze of uncertainty. The close it seems to be, and the farther the goal tends to get, if that makes any sense.

This was something that I wrote about and published yesterday, and felt a bit disheartened over.

Still, since the topic is there, I thought it might be interesting to take a look at the history of marijuana in another state pushing for marijuana legalization, and a state that is quite close to New Jersey, to boot.

Yes, the Empire State (New York, in case you still did not get the reference) has been tossing and turning regarding this issue, as well. Like with our own New Jersey governor, Governor Cuomo also has been strongly advocating for legalization for a long time as well. He wants it legalized across the state, although like in New Jersey, he has been experiencing some challenges, some bumps in the road, if you will.

New York in particular has had a bit of a strange history with marijuana and efforts to legalize the completely natural plant.

This was an article that I meant to share here for quite some time (notice that this is from May of 2014, which was just shy of five years ago!). But this seemed like a very ideal, apropos time to finally go ahead and do this.
