Musk is known as someone who strives for the stars, almost literally. It is well known that Musk is aiming to reach Mars, which is something that, at present, people have only been able to dream about. Musk wants to make it a reality.
Also, he is the face of the Tesla car company, and this plan to bring free Wi-Fi to the world feels reminiscent of something that the real Tesla would have done.
