Was Donald Trump a Gift From God? Mike Pompeo Believes That Trump Might Just Be a Biblical Savior

One of the truest signs of a fascist leader is when they try to elevate themselves into almost God-like status, when they and their supporters essentially view the leader as completely indispensable to save the country. That was the case with fascist leaders in the past, particularly in the 1930's. They basically seemed to play the role of savior of the nation, and it was felt that these leaders had been given to their country almost as a gift.

Some Evangelical Christians have virtually insinuated that Donald Trump was sent "to us" from God, and many feel that he was indeed sent to save this country.

Apparently, somebody forgot to mention to them that Trump has been loudly and proudly guilty of most of the Seven Deadly Sins, even boasting about them. He announced his presidential run in 2015 by admitting that he was "greedy, greedy, greedy," (Greed is one of the Seven Deadly Sins) and he took pride in saying that, as a star (Pride), he could grab women by the pussy (Lust). For that matter, Trump's unchecked desire for credit for everything whenever anything goes right, and his clear jealousy towards the achievement of others (particularly other politicians since he became president) and his constant attempts to undermine whatever they managed to do in the past, like trying to erase every vestige of the Obama presidency in particular) could easily be regarded as Envy, which is one of the Deadly Sins. Trump's whole life has been one of being a glutton (Gluttony is one of the Deadly Sins) for all sorts of base desires, and he continues to display this tendency towards excess right through his presidency. Trump clearly does not care to hear anything or know anything that gets in the way of his blind pursuit of still more money and more money, which can be defined as Sloth, also one of the Deadly Sins. He also claimed that he would be too busy once in the White House to play golf or take vacations, even though he has done more of each than any other president, and just appears to be extremely lazy. And let's face it, can anyone deny that Trump has a lot of rage, and would be guilty of Wrath, another of the Deadly Sins?

Seems to me that all Seven Deadly Sins are seen, and for all to witness, in this man's words and conduct.

Yet, the Evangelical Christians continue to give him a pass, time and time again. Some still feel that he is a gift from God, and not a Trojan Horse, hastening the decline of a clearly, even undeniably, troubled country.

Here is how Mike Pompeo, Trump's Secretary of State, responded when asked if Trump was specifically brought into this world to help save the Jewish people (a reference to his recent moves regarding Israel, specifically moving the American Embassy to Jerusalem last year, and then recognizing the militarily conquered Golan Heights as belonging to Israel earlier this month - both moves that he received considerable criticism for from around the world):

“Could it be that President Trump right now has been sort of raised for such a time as this, just like Queen Esther, to help save the Jewish people from the Iranian menace?” host Chris Mitchell asked Pompeo.

"As a Christian, I certainly believe that's possible." Pompeo responded.

Frankly, when it comes to Evangelical Christians and their tendency to continually excuse excess and greed and other horrible conducts that clearly go against what Jesus proclaimed in the Bible (and not just with Trump), it is hard not to remember what Shakespeare once said, about how "the devil can cite Scripture for his purpose."

Talk about the blind leading the blind!
