John Oliver Exposes Absurd NRA TV

Okay, I seem to have slid back into the issue of gun violence, despite trying to move away from it after a number of posts discussing the issue. It is just difficult sometimes not to discuss it. There was another mass shooting yesterday, this time at a hospital in Oklahoma. Details are still emerging with that one, although four casualties, not including the shooter who took his own life, have been reported. It comes the week after the shocking school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, last week.

This kind of gun violence seems to be everywhere in our society. We never seem to go very long between major mass shooting events. The time between the shocking, racially motivated mass shootings in a Buffalo supermarket, and last week's horrific school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, was less than two weeks. We have so many of these tragedies, and frankly, we never seem to get very serious about actually trying to resolve the issue.

We had a ridiculous, loudmouth president not long ago who infamously claimed that he would have stormed into a school during a mass shooting in order to save kids. Meanwhile, that man never showed the slightest inclination to do anything for anyone but himself, and seemed cowardly in a number of ways. Also, he lied through his teeth, to such an extent that even his political allies acknowledged that he seemed to play fast and loose with the truth. Yet, we are supposed to believe that he would have stormed a school during a mass shooting? And whether he would or not, such talk sounds more like hollow macho nonsense than actually being serious and trying to address a major issue in this country in a sober manner, and come up with actual solutions.

John Oliver exposed part of the problem that seems to have flown under the radar so far. The National Rife Association (NRA) has it's own television channel of sorts, and has programs of it's very own. Oliver shows some clips from it, and indeed, some of it is pretty creepy.

Take a look, and see if you are not a bit shocked by this form of entertainment propaganda by the NRA.
