I have been trying not to fixate on the problems of guns and school shootings again, since it is an excruciating, incredibly frustrating thing that we in this country keep having to deal with, over and over again. Those who are opposed to even common sense regulations on guns, even modest and reasonable limitations that frankly do not infringe on the second amendment right to bear arms, will literally seemingly come up with any arguments and possible solutions to the obvious and undeniable problem of gun violence in this country, so long as it imposes absolutely no restrictions on the very convenient and easy access to guns, even for the most violent among us.
John Oliver's show only airs once a week, so this video came out almost two weeks after Uvalde. Still, it is something that deserves to be seen.
So I am trying to do my part by posting it here.
Please watch this video, which has moments of levity - he is a comedian, after all - but which also discusses, seriously and frankly, the problem with one of the standard "solutions" to the problem of the threat of school shootings in particular.
