The Tradition of Our Family Name

I was meaning to publish this a while ago, but never quite got around to it. Originally, it came from a fellow family member from France, who shares the same last name. It was altered a bit from the original, which had some extras. Here, just the family name and it's meaning is shown.

Not sure as to the accuracy, but it was interesting enough that it felt worthy of having it's own blog entry here.

Enjoy!

  1. That's pretty cool, though like you I'm skeptical regarding the origin. I always simply assumed it came from "bord d'eau", which of course means "water's edge". Much like the Bergen County town of Edgewater in English. Regardless, that will help to eliminate certain awkward pauses during interviews: "No, I don't have any pertinent experience or solid references to substantiate why I feel General Motors needs to make me their next Vice President. But let me tell you an interesting story about my last name...". Is that wooded area at the top located in Letchworth State Park by the way?

    1. No, that was a scenic overlook off of I-78 that I recently took when I finally stopped there for the first time. It's maybe twenty minutes at most from Hillsborough, believe it or not.
