Here were a couple of pictures from the sports section of the newspapers that I got on July 16, 2018: the day after France won the World Cup in 2018.

For the seventh time ever, Novak Djokovic has been crowned Wimbledon champion. He now has tied Pete Sampras, as both men won seven Wimbledon titles. Federer holds the record for most Wimbledon titles by any an with eight overall, but Djokovic figures to have a real chance to at least tie that mark, and possibly even to surpass it.

In addition to his Wimbledon titles, Djokovic has won a record nine Australian Open titles, five US Open titles, and two French Open titles, for a total now of 21 career Grand Slam titles thus far, in a record 32 Grand Slam Men's Finals appearances. Djokovic passed Federer with this Wimbledon title, breaking a tie between the two, as each man had won 20 career Grand Slams prior to this win by Djokovic. Also, Djokovic passed Federer's mark of qualifying for 31 Grand Slam Men's Finals. Djokovic now owns that record. He also pulls to within one of Rafael Nadal, who has won 22 career Grand Slam championships. Somehow, you get the feeling that neither man is quite done. Plus, Djokovic can boast a record amount of time spent as the world's number one ranked man in tennis, as well as a record seven years ended as the world's number one ranked tennis player in the world. All of that adds up to a serious argument which can be made that Djokovic is indeed the greatest ever.

On Sunday, he ended the incredible run by Nick Kyrgios, who had qualified for his first ever Grand Slam Men's Final, and was looking for his first ever Grand Slam title. He fought hard and won the first set. Indeed, the match was close throughout. However, Djokovic's experience and determination proved to be a bit too much in the end, as he emerged victorious over Kyrgios with 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) win to clinch another Wimbledon crown.
