Greetings From Asbury Park, 2023

We visited the beach at Asbury Park earlier today. It was the first time that my girlfriend and I had a day at the beach together since before the pandemic.

Also, this was the second of a small flurry of activities that we are doing at my girlfriend's behest. She had taken a three-week trip to Poland early this summer, in June. And last weekend, I just came back from a trip with my son across the Midwest and West for two weeks. Yet, my girlfriend and I had not done much of anything together, and she wanted that to change. So on Monday, Labor Day itself, we went to New Hope, Pennsylvania, instead of the beach, since we figured that it would be an insane day to go to the Jersey Shore, on what surely would be one of the busiest days of the year to go. However, this was our trip to the beach. Tomorrow, we expect to visit Princeton, another favorite place for us to visit and enjoy a short break.

We took this picture relatively early on. Normally, neither of us are very big on selfies. But she wanted to show this to her sister in Poland, and there seemed no harm in it.

Yes, I went in and did a bit of swimming. Or at least as much as you can do while you are in the ocean, since the waves make it more difficult.

The big thing: we saw a whale. First time ever for both of us. That was a real thrill!

Otherwise, just a pleasant day, catching up on reading and relaxing, and simply enjoying looking out on the watery horizon as far as the eye can see.

Below are some of the pictures from our day in Asbury Park.

Enjoy!
