Pittsburgh 30, Cincinnati 27 - It felt like the Bengals kind of blew this one.. They had this game, and should have won, frankly But very late in the fourth, Joe Burrow gets hit from behind and loses the ball in the process, turning the ball over and handing the Steelers a win. If Cincy wants to contend for the AFC title, or this division title, these are the games that they need to win and show a killer instinct in. Disappointing. My pick: Inaccurate
Jacksonville 35, New England 6 - Granted, I got this prediction wrong. But in my defense, I was under the impression that this game was being played in Foxboro. Instead, it was in Jacksonville, and yes, that might just have changed my prediction. That said, I did not expect the Jaguars to completely dominate and blow the Patriots out the way that they did. Very impressive win for the Jaguars. My pick: Inaccurate
Washington 33, Seattle 31 - Admittedly, I thought that the Seahawks defense would prove tougher. But they allowed a lot of points in this one, and it proved too much. Seattle's offense was not bad, but it just could not keep up with the Commanders on this day, who clearly were desperate for their first win of the season. And a solid win, as they now improve to 1-2, while the defending champs fall to 2-1, now in second place in the NFC West.. My pick: Inaccurate
Cleveland 21, Carolina 18 - There was something in the way the Browns responded to that Week 1 loss that impressed me. Which is why they were my pick in this game, which more or less went the way it could have been expected to go. A close game, with neither team blowing out the other. But it was Cleveland who came up with the goods in the end, earning their second straight win to improve to 2-1. The Panthers, meanwhile, fall to 1-2 on the year.. My pick: Accurate
Kansas City 24, Miami 10 - No surprise here, right? The Chiefs took care of business, as they have been doing so far this season. This was their first game away from home, but it also was against the Dolphins. Miami has scored a total of 36 points so far this season, tied for worst with their division rivals, the Patriots. Except New England actually won a game, and figures to be good this season. Not so much with the Fins, right? A good, solid win for KC, who improves to 3-0 on the year. Meanwhile, Miami falls to 0-3. My pick: Accurate
Buffalo 24, LA Chargers 16 - The Chargers are probably better than their 0-3 record to this point suggests. Still, it stands as the worst start ever for any team coached by Jim Harbaugh. The Bolts were surprised by both the Cardinals and the Raiders, and just did not have enough against the Bills this week. If they don't turn things around soon, this season will spiral out of control and be a lost cause. As for Buffalo, they earn a solid win to improve to 3-0, with a big game against New England coming up next weekend. My pick: Accurate
Indianapolis 19, Houston 17 - One of these teams was going to earn their first win after this game, while the other fell to 0-3/ Not surprisingly, it was tough and a tight game throughout. It looked like the Texans had this one for a while, but the Colts managed to get that field goal right at the end for the win to stop their bleeding. Dating back to last season, the Colts had lost nine straight, so they clearly needed this one. As for Houston, this marks their second straight 0-3 start to a season. Not what I expected. Last year they recovered and qualified for the postseason. Let's see what happens this season with them, and that elite defense they have.. My pick: Inaccurate
San Francisco 36, Arizona 30 – Honestly, I saw that the score here early on in this game showed San Fran with a big lead, and figured that it was just going to be your typical blowout. So kudos to thee Cardinals for actually making a game of it, even making it a competitive, fairly suspenseful end of the game. Still, most people have to figure that the Cardinals are not going to win a game like this, especially on the road. So this one went more or less the way that most people figured it would, even if the final score was closer than expected. My pick: Accurate
Minnesota 23, Tampa Bay 16 - The Vikings did not blow away the Bucs. But clearly, Tampa Bay is seriously struggling to this point in the season, still searching for their first win of the year. But the Vikings denied them and earned the win to improve to 3-0 on the year. Meanwhile, the Bucs fall to 0-3 and have a lot of questions remaining. luckily, they are in a terrible division where every other team is 1-2, so Tampa Bay is hardly out of it. My pick: Accurate
Las Vegas 35, New Orleans 27 - Are the 3-0 Raiders for real? That is the question on everyone's mind after the Silver & Black managed to beat the Saints on the road. Who could have foreseen such a fantastic start for the normally hapless Raiders? Still, there are questions, and a lot of people suspect that all of this will catch up with them. I happen to be one of the skeptics. Still, give them credit for this win. The Saints, meanwhile, fall to 1-2.. My pick: Inaccurate
Baltimore 34, Dallas 31 - The Ravens and Cowboys played in the first ever NFL game in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday. Dallas looked ready, jumping out to a 10-0 lead and looking well-prepared. It seemed that they were heading for a comfortable win. Baltimore began to settle down, however, and then began to outplay the 'Boys. Eventually, they outlasted Dallas in what proved to be a shootout, getting a key long completion late to give them a shot at a game winning field goal attempt, which was converted successfully. The Ravens improve to 2-1, while the 'Boys fall to 1-2.. My pick: Accurate
Sunday Night Football: Denver 30, LA Rams 26 - This was a tough Sunday Night Football Game between two teams who figure to rank among the elites this season. Remember, both of these teams reached the Championship Game last season, although both ultimately fell short. It was a back and forth game, and probably more or less the kind of game you would expect. In the end, Denver was just slightly better, and they earn a tough win to improve to 2-1. Meanwhile, the Rams fall to 1-2.. My pick: Accurate
Monday Night Football: Chicago 20, Philadelphia 7 – My pick was for Philly to win this one. But after watching part of the game, it made me wonder why. After all, they struggled against Washington in the season opener, and hardly blew away the Titans last weekend. Meanwhile, the Bears looked simply awesome on opening weekend, then looked startlingly flat last week against Minnesota. Figured that Da Bears would rebound with a strong performance in this one against the Eagles. And sure enough, that’s exactly what they did. It was a low scoring affair until Chicago started to find their rhythm on offense in the third quarter, pulling away. Philly simply was not able to do anything on offense themselves to answer Chicago in the second half. So that pretty much was ball game at that point. My pick: Inaccurate
