Saw this and instantly thought that it was worth sharing here.
Indeed, this is a reminder to all of the people who defend police officers who shoot people by claiming that those people are criminals that cops are not supposed to kill guilty people, either.
Remember, the courts are there for a reason. Judges and juries by our peers are the ones who can judge and convict people. Certainly, cops on the spot are not supposed to make those kinds of judgement calls. Things might happen, and sometimes, these may indeed lead to deaths. But when it happens are frequently as it seems to happen in the United States in recent years, then it feels like it is a systemic problem, something which we need to examine and correct.
Should be common sense. But common sense among Americans today hardly seems all that common anymore, frankly.
Again, it is not up to police officers - or ICE agents, for that matter - to simply kill people at will, as they see fit. This encourages people with power complexes, or perhaps with evil and frankly unlawful intentions to join the ranks of ICE, which frankly feels increasingly like a criminal organization, something which operates as if it were above the law.
Frankly, there needs to be a reckoning. Otherwise, this will happen again, inevitably. It really would just be a matter of time.
