One of the voices and faces which still restores some of my faith that not everything good in the United States is gone has been the commentary by Robert Reich. At a point in American history when I am sometimes convinced that the nation has gone crazy, hearing a reasonable, rational perspective can really help out a lot.
For this extended Labor Day weekend, Reich posted something on Facebook which I feel Americans would do well to remember. Having been conditioned since at least Reagan to look down on unions and look at them almost as thugs and criminals, it is important, even crucial, to remember what unions actually brought the American people. In fact, it feels more important now than ever before to keep these things in mind.
