A couple of days ago, it was supposed to be incredibly hot. Specifically, it was supposed to reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit, which is positively uncomfortable.
So I went for an early morning walk on the stretch of the Raritan Delaware Canal which runs right next to Colonial Park.
As it turns out, they opened the Rose Garden of Colonial Park surprisingly early, well before it was scheduled to open at eight that morning. My guess is that it was because of the extreme heat which was expected on that day. Probably they figured that they would get an unusual number of visitors coming out early to try to beat the expected heat.
In any case, this worked out to my advantage. There was nobody else around. Got the garden all to myself.
So I took some pictures.
Colonial Park is one of those places which I did not know about until I moved locally, in nearby Hillsborough, well over a decade ago. Yet, it is one of the most beautiful parks that I know of in New Jersey. Along with Duke Farms and, of course, Princeton, this is one of the prettiest and most charming places to visit in the Garden States.
Thought it would be worth sharing the pictures here.
Enjoy.
