David Abbruzzese Facebook comment earlier today (July 7, 2025) regarding Cameron's announcement of his departure from Pearl Jam:
All the best to the mighty Matt Cameron.

Woke up earlier this morning to some news from Pearl Jam. It actually came in the form of an email, as I have been on the mailing list for some time.
In it was the message above.
Matt Cameron, the band's drummer for nearly three decades now, is leaving the band.
It appears that the departure was on friendly terms. He named them individually and thanked them for inviting him to join the band in 1998, and for all of the artistic, musical, and other experiences which resulted from him joining. In short, it seems like he wished them the best.
Also, he suggested that there is more to follow. Presumably, he will likely expand on the specific reasons for leaving the band.
The picture above was the same announcement that I saw shortly after waking earlier this morning. But it seemed particularly interesting, given that it was from the Facebook post of Pearl Jam's former drummer. The band has had a kind of a strange history with their drummers. And many people - myself included - feel like the band did Dave Abbruzzese wrong. That in fact, they were wrong to let him go, and have made a point of slighting him ever since. Most famously - or perhaps infamously - by not inviting him to be a part of the band's induction into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. For the most part, I like Pearl Jam and have appreciated their stance on issues while many others have not. But in this specific instance, I think that the band handled that very poorly and have been inexplicably disrespectful and petty towards Abbruzzese.
Anyway, let's see what's next for the band, assuming that they stick together.
Below are probably the best pictures I took at a Pearl Jam show. These were from one of the two shows at Philadelphia back in October of 2013:
