Trump Base Fragments Somewhat in Aftermath of Epstein Controversy As Far-Right Influencer Nick Fuentes Admits That Maga Was Tricked

This is a picture of a magnet that was being sold at Strand's Book Store in New York City a few years ago. No, I did not buy it, but I liked it and took a picture, which I am sharing here now.

Perhaps I made a mistake and underestimated the impact that the Trump White House would have on shaking MAGA's previously unfaltering support of and faith in their president.

Don't get me wrong: I don't think he's simply going to go away. Also, I am skeptical just how much this will actually compromise his popularity. Yes, like everyone else, I have seen the headlines consistently announcing that Trump's poll numbers are in decline. In fact, along with predicting his election victory in 2024, I also predicted that his approval numbers would decline pretty shortly after he took office, and would continue to decline. Also, I predicted - and still predict - that those poll numbers really would not matter much, if at all.

Remember, elections have consequences. And once you put somebody like Trump and his MAGA cult in power, you are going to have a hell of a time getting them out.

That said, I am glad to see that maybe not everybody drank the orange Kool Aid to the point where they continue to allow Trump to spoon feed them his version of the truth without question. Some prominent MAGA personalities have put two and two together, and apparently figured out that there is a reason why Dear Leader is not releasing his files. I mean, it was pretty obvious for most of the rest of us. After all, Trump is in a ton of pictures with Epstein, he is seen in a video with Epstein which was at Mar-a-Lago (yes, Trump was hosting), and Trump is quoted in a prominent magazine dating back to 2002 talking about just how swell of a guy Epstein is, and joking about how Epstein also loves beautiful women just like him, but that Epstein tends to like them young (which to me certainly is hard to explain if you still want to believe that Trump knew nothing about Epstein's pedophilia ring). Also, Epstein himself once referred to Trump as his best friend. All of those things are pretty alarming, unless you are absolutely determined to ignore it or somehow justify it and continue to lend Dear Leader your unquestioned support, as so many members of MAGA are apparently willing to do.

Just drink the orange flavored Kool Aid and shut your mouths, in other words.

Yes, it is refreshing that some members of MAGA apparently are not so willing to do that anymore.

The latest is far-right influencer Nick Fuentes. I was pleasantly surprised that he blasted Trump, in what at least appears to be a break with Trump.

On a recent episode of the America First podcast, Fuentes responded to a Trump post, with some unforgiving words:

"F*** you. You suck."

He soon added:

"You are fat, you are a joke, you are stupid, you are not funny, you are not as smart as you think you are," Fuentes said, later adding, "This entire thing has been a scam."

Now, I normally would not really care about the whole fat thing. In fact, it still ranks very low among my list of criticisms of the man. However, since he lies so easily and quickly about his supposed good health, and lists his height and weight as matching those of very elite athletes as yet another lie to promote "his brand," then this feels like legitimate grounds for criticism.

Also, let's give credit where credit is due. I don't really like Fuentes at all. But at least he is admitting to a mistake here. Admitting that the political movement which he belonged to and was a prominent voice and supporter of (until recently) was a scam. That's saying something.

Fuentes then elaborated:

"When we look back on the history of populism in America, we are going to look back on the MAGA movement as the biggest scam in history," Fuentes said. "And the liberals were right. The MAGA supporters were had. They were."

"When we look back in history, we will see Trump as a scam artist who served as a vehicle for this rather than the other way around. We were not the vehicle for Trump, Trump was the vehicle for all of us," Fuentes added.

The MAGA movement is the biggest scam in history? Admitting that liberals were right about Trump?

Wow. That's not light criticism.

Again, let's give him some credit for finally seeing that, late or not. Also, let's appreciate that he was willing to speak out against Trump and the cult following. Certainly, that has not been the case with everyone, especially on the right. Especially with prominent MAGA personalities like this.

Now while I admittedly always thought of Trump as nothing more than a scam artist (thought it was blatantly obvious, frankly), it is admirable (at least to a degree) that someone like Fuentes finally managed to see Trump for hat he is and - importantly - actually is willing to speak out against the man. This is how the whole Trump cult thing might finally end. It's good to know that there are limits to things, that maybe, just maybe Trump will not be permitted to get away with literally everything, or dictate the narrative of who he is and what he represents. Finally seeing some signs - faint still, but definitely there - that some within the MAGA movement are waking up to this reality.

Hey, it's a start.
