Sometimes it gets really exhausting, trying to keep up the many ways - countless ways, apparently - that Trump supporters will strain logic and reason in trying to justify Dear Leader's actions.
Think about some of the flaws in their logic:
He is not a typical politician and means what he says. Yet when he says something stupid or outrageous, they claim he did not really mean it. And like any typical politician, he makes promises that he seems clearly to have no intention of keeping. Here are just some examples: making Mexico pay for the wall, building a national healthcare system that will be affordable and cover everyone, paying off the national debt within eight years (yet increasing it by 25% during his first term, and adding over $3 trillion to it in these first six months of his second term), promising that the rest of the world will respect us and not laugh at the United States once he is in charge (he was laughed at in front of the world during a United Nations speech, and it regularly poked fun at and the butt of jokes by other world leaders, as well as being the focal point of mocking cartoons, balloons, and parade floats in other countries), locking up "crooked Hillary," ending the war in Ukraine within 24 hours, lowering the price of gas and groceries, releasing the Epstein fines, and many, many more things.
Plus, there are those times when he says something so embarrassing or degrading or inexcusable (or all of those at once), that his supporters bend over backwards doing what mental gymnastics they can to justify whatever he said or did. Having a tough time criticizing outright neo-Nazis and white supremacists or referring to dozens of countries as "shithole nations" comes to mind. Or the whole "grab 'em by the pussy" thing. Or mocking a disabled reporter. Or calling American military veterans "suckers" and "losers." Or showing a total absence of class in continuing to insult Senator John McCain even after McCain's death. Or on and on and on. Frankly, I'm getting a bit tired just thinking about these things, and it feels like I barely scratched the surface, truth be told.
Self-identified "good Christians" claim that he is sent from God, that he represents Christian values, even though his behavior - past, present, and future - loudly screams just the opposite. I mean, remember during his first term, when he had the peaceful protestors outside of the White House cleared out by tear gas so that he could have that photo opportunity of himself holding the bible by the church nearby? Then he complained that the tear gas remnants were bothering him, so he quickly left? This guy was convicted of running scam charities. He just stole a gold medal during the recent club World Cup. He cheated on his first wife, his second wife, and his third wife, and paid hush money to a porn actress. He was friends with Jeff Epstein and once joked - in a published major magazine, no less - about how Epstein loved attractive women almost as much as he himself does, but seems to like them on the young side. All of this is real, and I encourage you to do some research and find out for yourself if you suspect that I'm pulling your leg.
Or how his supporters claim that he is protecting the United States from tyrannical dictatorship, even while he was the one who wanted to push back the 2020 elections even while undermining in every other instance the emergency reasons (the pandemic) which should serve as justification for pushing back the election. Or then refusing to concede and claiming that he was cheated and has a ton of proof of a massive voter fraud, even though his legal team, once in court and under oath, bent over backwards to make it clear that they were not arguing massive voter fraud, or the whole January 6th insurrection or attempted coup, or his "suggestion" on his Truth Social post in 2022 that parts of the Constitution might need to be suspended, or his obvious and transparent drive to gather more and more powers (strangely resembling those of a dictator), or using the military in a theatrical way against American cities, or on and on and on.
Again, the point is that it really, really takes a lot to try to justify this guy and his actions. He is mean-spirited, petty, has an outrageous ego, lies and lies and lies some more, is spoiled rotten, childish, and has an enormous sense of entitlement. Also, he is vile, cursing all of the time (especially lately, if you've noticed) and just generally treats people (including those closest to him) like they are property or trash. He only appreciates them when he feels that they have some kind of value to bring him. Otherwise, it seems like you might as well not exist. If anyone displeases him, he lays down his wrath. Often, this is nothing more than rants and ridiculous posts on social media. But as president, it seems like he sure is trying to get revenge on people in far more serious and, frankly, illegal ways.
Try justifying all of that. It takes a very active mind indeed to even try.
