My Son Turns 18 Today

Yes, it was on this day back in 2005 that my son entered the world. He has been the greatest blessing of my life ever since.

To be honest, it is almost impossible to imagine that it has already been 18 full years since that day, which sometimes feels like it could have been just yesterday. I look at this most recent picture of him from earlier this week (Monday, October 30th), and he looks so grown up. He has obvious facial hair, and his expression is not that of a child. His voice is deep, and he is now in his senior year at high school, and thinking about a career beyond school.

Talking to him also is different. He is an intelligent, thoughtful, conscientious kid. While he still betrays his youth at times, he nevertheless is impressive, and that is not something that I am just saying because I am his father.

In short, he is a young man now. Officially, he became a man today. That, also, is very hard to believe. Not that I am one of those parents who cannot let go of their "baby" or anything. Again, though, it is really shocking just how fast the time goes.

Anyway, I just wanted to make sure to post this blog entry in honor of his birthday today.

Happy 18th Birthday, Son! You make me so proud!

  1. Happy birthday Sébastien! Add me to the list of people who can't believe it's already been 18 years. Unrelated, my comments using my cell phone feature my username, while comments using my laptop don't. *Cue Twilight Zone theme*

    1. I showed him the comment and he thanks you. As far as the difference between cell phone and laptop, maybe you're signed in with one and not the other?

  2. I'm signed in to Google on both, so I don't get it.
