It was on this day, November 22nd - back in 1994 that Pearl Jam released their third studio album, Vitalogy.
This was back during the height of their popularity and power, late in 1994. The album is solid, although a bit eclectic. Still, it had enough songs that became hits that received tremendous airplay on the radio back in those days.
Also, it was clear that there was a strain from the pressures of being under the microscope in the public eye, particularly lead singer Eddie Vedder.
As it turns out, this also would be the last album that the band would release while they still held a dominant position in terms of popularity. When they released 'No Code" a little under two years later, they already had lost considerable ground to other bands. The change in musicla direction with "No Code" also accelerated the band's decline in popularity, as well.
However, "Vitalogy" still saw the band at the peak of popularity, even though it was the second straight album where they had done little actual promoting, and no videos. I still remember hearing the full album for the first time with a friend when we took the two hour drive from northern New Jersey to Philadelphia in December, if I remember correctly.
Anyway, they released this album 29 years ago on this day.
