Fittingly, Novak Djokovic will end his year of dominance as the world number one.
This will be the eighth time in his career that he has achieved the distinction of being the year end number one. He already held the record for the most with seven, but has added yet another year. That also means that he will be the first tennis player in history, man or woman, to reach a total of 400 weeks (non-consecutive) as the world number one.
Djokovic clinched all of this in his very first match at the ATP Final, once he defeated Danish tennis player Holger Rune 7-6 (4), 6-7 (1), 6-3.
Now, Djokovic will try and win that tournament, as well, to add to his trophy collection.
More importantly, he is assured of starting the next year in the most promising fashion possible, as the world's number one tennis player.
