NFL 2023 - 24 Thanksgiving Day Games Review

🏈🏈🏈🏈

No, I did not get around to making my predictions for the Thanksgiving games this year. Not sure why, it just kind of slipped my mind.

In any case, here is the review of the games that took place yesterday:

Green Bay 29, Detroit 22 - Now this one felt surprising. I did not do get around to dong predictions, but will admit that I surely would have gone with Detroit for this one. Goes to show how you never know what will happen with any given game, right? But the Packers dominated in the first half, taking a commanding 20-6 lead in the first quarter, and then adding a field goal in the second quarter. The Lions looked stunned, but they regained some composure and rallied a bit in the second half. Still, they fell short in the end, as the Cheeseheads hang on for the important road win that keeps their slim playoff hopes alive, at least for now.

Dallas 45, Washington 10 - Yikes! Washington lost that bad game to the Giants, but this one got really ugly late. Once again, the Cowboys beat up on a bad team, kind of running up the score quite a bit towards the end of the game there. Dak Prescott looked fantastic, like an elite quarterback. And Dallas seemed to do everything right, beating Washington in almost every way. The defense was solid and opportunistic, and the offense looked explosive and balanced. If they play this way in every game from here on out, they will indeed be formidable. As for the Commanders, this one would be best forgotten, or at least put behind them. But they should remember the lessons they need to learn from such a beating.

San Francisco 31, Seattle 13 - The 49ers jumped out early in this game, building a very solid 24-3 lead. The hometown Seahawks quite often seem to struggle against these 49ers in recent years. It sure seemed like this one would be no different. To some extent, the Seahawks fought in the second half and seemed to make somewhat of a game of it, but San Fran did just enough of what they had to do, at the most critical junctures, to secure an important win and stay hot. It also puts them now fully two games ahead of the second-place 'Hawks in the NFC West race, which may not be insurmountable, but almost feels like it at this point.
