Some Theories About How Certain Super Bowls Were Fixed

Rigged Super Bowls?

It's not exactly a wild theory. After all, there have been theories that some sports events are fixed. Remember the 1919 World Series was rigged. And it is understood that some boxing matches have been fixed, including allegations of some very famous and important matches, such as Muhammad Ali's second win over Sonny Liston.

Well, there are some people who believed that certain Super Bowls may have been fixed. There are three, in particular, that seem to stand out among some people as seemingly likely to have been fixed by somebody or other. And indeed, when you see some of the blatant bad calls in some important games, which included the most recent NFL game to have been played as I write this, when there were numerous at best questionable calls which went against the road team and favored the hometown Kansas City Chiefs, you can kind of understand that. Remember, the Los Angeles Rams reached that Super Bowl against the Patriots because of what is likely the worst missed call (by every single referee on the field) in the NFC Championship Game against the Saints. Things like that make it a little bit easier to believe that some of these games, at least, may indeed be fixed.

I can remember that some people believed that Super Bowl XXX was fixed, especially when the Steelers' Neil O'Donnell, the quarterback with a historically low interception rate, threw three picks on that fateful day. Those INT's were very costly, particularly the first two, both to the same defender, Cowboys cornerback Larry Brown, who was named the game's MVP. There were sarcastic comments that O'Donnell should have been named the game's MVP. And I remember one Steelers cornerback, Rod Woodson, openly questioning what his quarterback had failed to see on the field on that day. Still, I'm not sure if that means that it was fixed. On the biggest stage, you might make mistakes that you normally are not prone to. Strange things happen sometimes.

Were the listed Super Bowls in this video fixed, at least in some ways? You might wonder. In some cases, there really does appear to be an abundance of evidence that makes you wonder. I remember the controversy after all of those horrible calls in Super Bowl XL, all of which seemed to go against the Seahawks. That also happened to be, to my mind's eye, the worst Super Bowl that I ever saw. Sometimes, you get a lopsided Super Bowl, where one team just gets blown away. But at least, then, you are in awe of just how good, or almost perfect, the other team is. But in Super Bowl XL, neither team looked particularly good or impressive. There were quite a few dropped passes and mediocre plays from key players on both sides. It almost made you wonder how these two teams wound up surviving to reach the Super Bowl to begin with. Just awful.

In any case, watch this video, and see if you agree. Why or why not? Please feel free to comment here, if you feel so inclined.
