Each update on the earthquake in Turkey and Syria sees the death toll climbing higher and higher. We are now past those first critical 72 hours, when the majority of lives saved come.
Still, we do not know the full scope of the tragedy, although the count of lives lost from the tragedy now stands at over 24,000 dead, according to the latest news report from CNN earlier today.
Just awful.
Words fail to capture this story. That is particularly true as I write this thousands of miles away, literally a sea and then an ocean distant. But my heart goes out to the families of the victims, and those who have been rendered homeless as a result of this.
I know that some charities evidently cannot be trusted whenever there are tragedies like this. But one charitable institution that I personally like and trust is Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). So I thought it might be a good idea to share that page, if you feel like giving:
