One of the most iconic monuments to sports is, ironically, a statue to a boxing champion who never actually existed. That would be the now world famous Rocky statue in Philadelphia.
Not surprisingly, some fans from teams of other cities have tried to target the Rocky statue when trying to play mind games with Philadelphia. This is something that has been attempted before. Several times, actually. Over the years, the Rocky statue has been forced to wear jerseys of the Minnesota Vikings, the New England Patriots, and the New York Giants. most recently, just before last Sunday's NFC Championship Game, in fact, it had a 49ers jersey on it. But none of those times did it bring the visiting team good luck, as the Eagles wound up winning the games in question.
Seeing this trend, Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce is urging Chiefs fans not to deface the Rocky statue, and especially not by putting up a Chiefs jersey on it. Here is what he had to say on the matter:
"Right now, Chiefs (fans), do not touch the f---ing Rocky memorial," Kelce said on his "New Heights" podcast. "Do not do that, alright? Definitely don't put an 87 on there. Do not do that."
