Now, this was a different take on the possibility of the Beatles reuniting back in the day than what you usually hear. Most people seemed very keen on the idea. Remember how the Beatles once were urged to reunite on Saturday Night Live? That seemed to be the desire of most people, and this is understandable. After all, they were a truly great rock band, with many people - myself included - believing them to actually be the best.
Yet, there are some detractors from this viewpoint. And perhaps shockingly, this includes someone who was quite close to the band. So close to the band, in fact, that he is sometimes referred to as the "fifth Beatle/"
Of course, I am speaking of none other than George Martin. He of course helped to produce the trademark sound of the Beatles. Indeed, he was instrument - no pun intended - in putting together the final touches that meant to much, and gave us the great tracks which so many of us know and love today, decades after the band split, and even decades after the deaths of two of the "Fab Four."
So you would think that Martin would have been one of the people eager to see the band reunite. But you would be wrong. In fact, Martin once said that it would have been a "terrible mistake" for the members to get back together. Not a perspective you usually hear, and certainly also not one you would necessarily expect from someone who helped to make them reach the legendary, almost mythical level which they have attained. But that is nevertheless how he felt about it.
Below is the link to this interesting article, which expands on why, precisely, Martin felt this way. Please click on the link below for more information:
