There is a bit of a distance between the museum and the bigger building of the Ancient Indian Village in Mitchell, South Dakota. The bigger building is where they actually worked and are working on archaeological digs. The walk from the museum to this other is a short one that curves around.
However, this was a striking monument. Or at least, I felt that it was.
Fittingly, it is also on a site preserving Native American culture and history. We are collectively only really beginning to better understand and appreciate that aspect of our collective culture and history.
This monument felt wonderfully symbolic as a result, and so it seemed worth sharing some pictures of it here below.
