Welcome to South Dakota

The last real taste of the West for this particular trip. 

South Dakota is a mixture of the Midwest and the West. The western part of the state is more rugged, and thus looks and feels more western. It even is in the Mountain Standard Time Zone. 

By contrast,  the eastern portion of the state is generally flat and filled with farm fields for as far as the eye can see. And it is in the Central Standard Time Zone. 

So we knew that it was going to be our last taste of the West for this trip.
