Movie Review: Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me

So watching the first Austin Powers movie kind of got me in the mood to watch (and review) the second movie installment in the series.

And here is the review.

Yeah, baby!

This was a funny movie as well, of course. Perhaps not quite as funny as the first one, although maybe even funnier. We see some new and unforgettable characters, particularly Fat Bastard. This one builds on that first movie and adds to it.

We see Austin Powers able to go back to his beloved 1960's era London, which was pretty good. And we have Dr. Evil and another new edition, Mini Me, who is hilarious and another unforgettable character. When my son was a baby, I was going to try and dress up as Dr. Evil, and him as Mini Me, but just ran out of time, and thus unable to do it.

Powers is robbed of his "mojo" by Dr. Evil through a time machine, and Austin Powers then spends the rest of the movie trying to get his "mojo" back.

There were some hilarious moments, like Dr. Evil and his son starring on the Jerry Springer Show, and finding out about the love affair between Evil and Frau Farbissina, which was great. Will Ferrel as Mustafa also adds some real humor to the movie.

A great follow-up to the original Austin Powers movie, building on it while not merely repeating it. This one took some chances which really paid off.

This was a very funny follow-up to the original, and comes highly recommended!
