Dee Snider, the former frontman for hard rock band Twister Sister (known mostly for their work in the 1980's) took exception to how the band's most iconic song was used by MAGA-supporting politicians at their rallies.
In a pretty damn powerful tweet a couple of years ago (late August of 2022), Snider blasted Qanon and MAGA believers who use that song, "We're Not Gonna Take It." He said that far from backing up their beliefs, the song was actually against everything that people like that believe and express.
This was the substance of his tweet:
“Attention QANON MAGAT FASCISTS,” he tweeted. “Every time you sing ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ remember it was written by a cross-dressing, libtard, tree hugging half-Jew who HATES everything you stand for. It was you and people like you that inspired every angry word of that song.”
Man, I wish more people would speak out as forcibly against MAGA and Qanon as Snider impressively did here. Specifically, he took exception to the use of his song at rallies held by then Arizona MAGA Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, who is often associated with Trump for her unconditional, mindless support of Trump.
In another tweet, he urged Cult 45 members to write with their own song.
