It's too easy to simply go with the flow, not rock the boat. The temptations are obvious, because so many people choose that path.
Yet, there are times when things are going so clearly wrong in a country, that it becomes imperative to speak out. And now that we have a fascist regime in the White House, this is one of those times.
When I was a kid, I remember a history teacher of mine - one who clearly identified himself as very conservative - talking about how he felt that having an arena 9the Brandan Byre Arena, as it was then called) named after a living person, a former New Jersey Governor seemed to him the height of arrogance.
Frankly, I did not disagree. But I wonder what he is or would think about Trump naming almost everything after himself or trying to do everything to honor himself. For that matter, I wonder how many Trump supporters actually have that same thought cross their mind? Does it bother them, this man's transparent narcissism?
Apparently not enough not to vote him into office twice, and probably most of them voted for him three times, frankly.
To me, anyone who does not cancel any event or scheduled appearance at the newly named Trump Kennedy Center is either a fascist tool, or a coward. To that extent, I applaud those artists who have canceled their scheduled performances.
Below is a link to an article listing those artists.
