Robert Reich: The most shameful day in American history

Earlier today, I posted something about this being the fifth anniversary of one of the darkest days in American history.

Yes, it was five years ago when Americans saw images of other Americans scaling walls and smashing windows to gain unlawful entry into the Capitol building in order to try to interfere with the democratic process.

In short, they tried to silence the voice of the voters, believing (or claiming that they believed) in Trump's relentless lies about having been cheated of that election.

Look, he lost the popular vote by well over seven million. He lost every single battleground state.

Trump demanded recounts and his legal team went to the courts. They still lost. In fact, they lost all but one of those court cases, and they made a point of not arguing the "massive voter fraud" that they so loudly proclaimed in front of television cameras before the entire world.

Funny that they would not introduce any of their alleged "irrefutable proof" of "massive voter fraud" before the courts, eh? One might almost get the impression that they hesitated when they realized that there might actually be serious ramifications for lying and deceiving under oath.

We cannot allow them to try and whitewash that disastrous day and make it seem like it was an act of beautiful patriotism.

As far as I am concerned, it was nothing short of an attempted coup d'etat. They were trying to silence the loud and clear voice of a majority of voters, who had rejected Trump.

Let's remember it for what it was.

To that end, here is an article by Robert Reich about January 6th, which he refers to as the "most shameful day in American history.

He just might be right about that.
