Sometimes, it seems like people - particularly in Trump's inner circle, not least of all Trump himself - too quickly and conveniently forget how many of their actions and sentiments are permanently captured with modern technology. Trump forgets how he predicted Obama would employ "Wag the Dog" tactics when facing low approval ratings, then using them himself when he finds his presidency compromised. Or saying that people suggesting that Trump claiming climate change was merely a "Chinese hoax" when, in fact, he clearly did claim as much in the past, and there is proof. Or claiming that he would lower the price of gas and groceries on "day one" of his second term. Or end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours (it's been almost 12 full months). And so on and so forth.
Ditto with Vice-President JD Vance, who once described Trump as potentially "America's Hitler" and suggesting that he was a "never Trump guy" and describing Trump as an "idiot." Vance repeatedly claimed in 2016 that he would be voting for a third party candidate. And in an interview promoting his book, "Hillbilly Elegy," Vance said this (see link to source below):
“I can’t stomach Trump,” Vance said in an interview with NPR, when describing why he would vote for a third-party candidate. “I think that he’s noxious and is leading the white working class to a very dark place.”
Or with Pete Hegseth, proudly proclaiming in 2016 that American military personnel would not follow "unlawful orders."
Well, here's another one from yet another compromised member of Trump's cabinet. This time, it is Tulsi Gabbard, back in the days when she was still a Democrat.
Turns out that in an X post back on January 19, 2019, she claimed that:
"The United States needs to stay out of Venzuela. Let the Venezuelan people determine the future. We don't want other countries to choose our leaders - - so we have to stop choosing theirs."
Hasn't aged all that well, has it?
Originally, I meant to publish this particular blog entry as a "Weekend Funny."
Except, it occurred to me the more I thought about it, that there really is nothing funny about this, or the whole situation right now.
Is there?
