Weekend Humor: Trump Knows Wag the Dog

On October 9, 2012, private American citizen Donald Trump exercised his right to lawfully criticize the sitting President of the United States. He claimed that President Obama was growing desperate as his approval ratings with sinking, and predicted that he would launch a military strike on a foreign nation.

Let's fast forward a bit. It is January of 2026. We have a sitting President of the United States who has questioned the legality of questioning the president. In fact, he went as far as to suggest that the way that the media covered his presidency is "illegal" (There is an additional link to an article back when he made this claim that critical coverage of him was illegal). The economy has not been fixed after a year in office, even though he promised to fix it, and quickly, during the 2024 campaign. The Epstein Files seem to be very compromising. People are openly questioning bad signs regarding both his physical and mental health. And his poll numbers have been tanking worse than Obama's ever did.

So what does he do?

Why, he launches a military attack on a foreign power, of course.

Seriously.

The worst approval ratings that Obama had him at 38% approval ratings, which he reached twice in 2011 (according to five polls between September and October of that year) and in two polls in September of 2014. But Trump's approval ratings lately have been even lower, with polls in November showing 36% approval ratings. According to the most recent Gallup poll, Trump's job approval rating still is only at 36%.

So Trump, clearly aware of the "Wag the Dog" strategy of launching a military strike against a foreign nation during times when poll numbers are tanking, launched an airstrike against Venezuela early on Saturday morning.

This, despite referring to himself as the "peace president" and after whining and crying about how unfair it is that he did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize and accepting the participation trophy known as the FIFA Peace Prize instead.

This is a "Weekend Humor" bit, but I recognize that this is funny/not funny simultaneously.

Below are some links to the articles & sources used regarding approval ratings for both Obama and Trump. But don't just take my word for it. Want to see how popular Trump is beyond his own rhetoric and baseless gloating? Please take a look and do some research of your own, by all means.
