My brother brought this one to my attention.
Chubby Checker was inaugurated into the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame this year. Yet, his induction was evidently nowhere to be found when televised.
So I did a little bit of research and found out the reason for it. Checker had a prior engagement, with a show, and decided to keep this. He felt that playing for his fans felt more of a priority than induction into the Rock Hall of Fame.
I have mixed feelings about this. Not sure if he will regret it or not. My brother felt that he was pretty much right to do it, that the Rock Hall of Fame had discredited itself plenty over the years with all of the people that they have snubbed.
Certainly, I agree. There are some bands which my brother pointed out who have been left out for entirely too long. He mentioned Jethro Tull and Blue Oyster Cult. I know that Iron Maiden also have not made it there, and it felt like Soundgarden was continually subbed for too long.
