Allegedly, Trump Now May See Mass Defection From Political Support

This is a picture of a magnet that was being sold at Strand's Book Store in New York City a few years ago. No, I did not buy it, but I liked it and took a picture, which I am sharing here now.

Here is another news article which tries to stay optimistic about how many people, allegedly, are finally moving away from their support of Donald Trump.

Now that they voted for Trump in the 2024 election, despite so many warnings and some frankly obvious signs that this would turn out very badly for them, only now are they beginning to think that he is not the man they hoped he would be.

Look at some of the things that they are expressing (in remorse, with the benefit of hindsight) after almost a full year of Trump in office:

Seven Latino voters who backed Trump in 2024 completely flipped, Notus reported, expressing buyer's remorse over aggressive immigration enforcement, soaring costs, and what they see as "sinister and out of control."

"It just seems like the mask is off," one female participant in her 30s declared. "That's who he is. And it's kind of crazy."

Let me be frank for a moment here.

First of all, what damn mask did they think he was wearing? While I agree that Trump put on a mask in terms of claiming to be the hero of the economy, promising that prices for gas and groceries would quickly go down (and look how that failed to materialize) and other claims (like releasing the Epstein Files) also reveal that he was being less than forthright, the fact of the matter is that Donald Trump is and always has been known as a liar. Not just any liar, for that matter. Most likely, he is, in all truth, the most extensively documented liar in all of human history.

And that's saying something.

One of them expressed shock - SHOCK! - that Trump is not the man he seemed to be to them prior to the 2024 election.  Here's a snippet from the article:

"But it's not the same person. It's not the same president. So it's been very dismaying," he said.

A whopping 70% of Latinos now disapprove of Trump, according to an October Pew Research Survey, with 65% specifically opposing his immigration policies.

Perhaps he struck them as a man of moderation? A trustworthy and dignified statesman?

Give me a break.

At the risk of sounding insensitive, I really have no sympathy for people who paid attention to only what they wanted to believe about this man, and now feel disappointed by what they got.

Did they really think that he cared about them?

Hello?

I mean, I guess it's reassuring that some people are finally waking up. But damn, did they have to be so blind and stubbornly stupid as to impose this fascist threat to both American democracy and world peace in order to finally wake up to reality? To a reality which, let's be frank, was actually pretty obvious to begin with?

So no sympathy with them, as far as I'm concerned. They forced the rest of the country - to say nothing of the rest of the world - to have to deal with this dangerous and immediate threat to both American democracy and world peace. And no, I am not exaggerating.

Now, they are scratching their heads and wondering what went wrong? Determined not to vote for him next time, even while their man (or excuse me, their former man, the one they imposed on the rest of us) is once again seemingly threatening to try to cancel elections which look bad for him?

Holy shit, people! Wake the fuck up!

Yeah, elections have consequences. And when you tens of millions of people are careless with their voting, and allow a monster to get in power, they may indeed regret it after the fact (when it's already too late).

PAY ATTENTION!

All of this is very predictable. Maybe not the specifics, but that he would mean trouble for both American democracy and world peace was, frankly, very, very predictable. The man is unstable and his legendary thirst for more and more power was never a secret. What part of any of this is actually surprising?

Spare me your crocodile tears.
