Adam Conover had an impressive thought-provoking critique on the whole ICE raids and murders situation in Minnesota.
What he said was that the anti-ICE protests across the country - and particularly in Minnesota - are working, having a positive impact towards forcing the administration to back down. Conover suggests that the Trump administration severely overplayed their hand in this situation.
He argued that what likely happened is that Trump felt that focusing on Minneapolis because it would show images of people being forcibly rounded up, which would fire his base, and would do so in a Democratic state, making the Democrats look weak. That in this social media world, this would be a slam dunk for Team Trump and MAGA.
Except that it has not quite worked out that way.
The Trump White House and their echo chambers among the far right media have tried to paint these people who were killed as "domestic terrorists."
Yet, the numerous camera footage from several angles show a much different story.
Americans are not buying this administration's line and lies. And Trump's growing unpopularity is forcing the administration to back down.
